New Executive Appointments Mark a Significant Step Forward for the Development of Combat Sports in Sri Lanka

SRI LANKA — ISKA Sri Lanka has officially unveiled its Leadership Team for the 2026–2027 term, introducing an accomplished group of administrators, technical experts, coaches, and martial arts professionals who will oversee the continued growth and development of combat sports throughout the country.

The appointments reinforce ISKA Sri Lanka’s commitment to establishing a professional, transparent, and internationally recognized structure that supports athletes, coaches, officials, promoters, and clubs across every major combat sport discipline.

The newly announced leadership includes:

Technical & Officiating Division

  • Wasantha Senarathne – Director of Officiating

Sport Committees

  • Kru Rohan Thushara – Chairman, Muay Thai Committee
  • Kasun De Silva – Chairman, BJJ & Grappling Committee
  • Romesh De Silva – Technical Director, BJJ & Grappling Committee
  • Shenal Fernando – Chairman, Amateur MMA Committee
  • Tithira Perera – Technical Director, Amateur MMA Committee
  • Sensei Chandani Samarasekara – Chairwoman, Sport Karate Committee
  • Kaushalya Nirmana – Chairman, Kata & Forms Committee

Representing decades of combined experience in coaching, officiating, athlete development, competition, and martial arts leadership, the newly appointed officials will work together to strengthen ISKA Sri Lanka’s national structure while expanding opportunities for athletes at every level.

The leadership team will focus on several key objectives during the 2026–2027 term, including improving governance and regulation, expanding education and certification programs, creating stronger athlete development pathways, increasing international collaboration, and elevating the profile of Sri Lankan combat sports on the global stage.

These appointments reflect ISKA Sri Lanka’s long-term vision of building a unified and sustainable system that serves every discipline under the ISKA banner, from Muay Thai and Mixed Martial Arts to Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, Grappling, Sport Karate, and Kata & Forms.
