Amateur Kickboxing Thrives in First Sanctioned Provincial Tournament in British Columbia

ISKA Canada and Team ISKA Canada are off to a strong start as British Columbia hosted its first officially sanctioned amateur kickboxing tournament under the new regulatory framework on Saturday, April 25th, 2026. The event marked a major milestone for the sport, setting a new standard for organization, safety, and competitive structure across the province.

Conducted with full regulatory approval, the tournament featured certified officials, a complete medical team—including ringside physicians and paramedics—and strict safety protocols to ensure a professional and secure environment for all participants.

A total of 148 athletes from 29 clubs across British Columbia took part in the event, showcasing the depth and growth of the sport. Competitors participated in a wide range of disciplines, including kickboxing bouts, forms (kata), high jump kick, and board breaking, with 120 athletes competing specifically in fight divisions.

The event demonstrated strong inclusivity, welcoming participants from as young as 4 years old up to 63, reflecting the accessibility and appeal of amateur kickboxing across all age groups.

One of the most significant outcomes of the tournament was its flawless execution, concluding without any injuries or major incidents. This result highlights the effectiveness of the safety measures and the professionalism of the organizing team.

The success of this inaugural sanctioned event signals a promising future for amateur kickboxing in British Columbia, providing athletes with a structured pathway to develop their skills, gain experience, and compete at higher levels.
