ISKA is extremely pleased to announce that Ian “Powerhouse” Jacobs will be inducted into the ISKA Modern Hall of Fame as part of our inaugural class of “LEGENDARY CHAMPIONS”. He will be honored at Sleeman Sports Complex in Brisbane, Australia on October 16th during the spectacular opening ceremonies of the 2025 ISKA AMA World Championships.
From the young age of 6 Ian knew he would be a World Champion, he devoted his life to that quest and achieved his goal 3 times over including being crowned ISKA World Super Middleweight Muay Thai Champion.
Driven by honor and pride, along with his family, Jacobs has always been inspired by his father who instilled in him the drive to be the best at anything he does. And the belief that you are never too old for a become more than you are. “If you have put in the hard work, and I mean trained like a warrior, then you will feel ready at any time to perform. If you haven’t done the work, you can’t clear the mind. I also rely on my long-time trainer and mentor Wayne Spencer whose voice I still hear in my head when I prepare for any performance.”
As described by Seth Scrimshaw in the History Kickboxing Vault.
THE FASTEST KO IN KICKBOXING HISTORY
Few occurrences in sport, if any, conjure up the same excitement as a knockout. Kickboxing has had its fair share of fast finishes, and none quicker than Australian striker Ian Jacobs’ shocking stoppage win over The Headhunter at Tarik Solak’s A-1 8-man eliminator tournament in 2009. The KO broke a record held for 17 years by the great Stan “The Man” Longinidis.
Jacobs catches his opponent clean less than two seconds into the bout, spearing his man with a jumping front kick to the body. Despite it being extremely rare to see a fight end by way of this technique, the front kick folds Jacobs’ unfortunate opponent, who is left on the canvas clutching his body in the moments following the Australian legend’s career-defining performance.
Ian Jacobs is now heavily involved in his SAFE FAMILY and SAFE SCHOOLS philanthropy dedicated to teaching Safe Parenting, Awareness Prevention, Conflict Resolution and the prevention of School and Workplace Violence.
